The Department of Chemistry was started in 2009 with the establishment of Vikrama Simhapuri University in the Nellore district immersed with full time Ph. D. programme in 2010. Each programme follows choice-based credit system (CBCS) along with core courses and student evaluation contains continuous assessment through semester examination. The Chemistry department is imparting high-quality teaching and research in thrust areas of chemical science, with intensive research training to students (Project works) and research scholars (Ph.D programmes).           

The department offers 2 Post graduate courses

1. M.Sc Chemistry (Organic) regular with intake of 35 students

2. M.Sc Analytical Chemistry self finance with intake of 35 students

• The Department has 3 regular staff members and 14 Research Scholars working.
•  In the Department, 10 students has been awarded Doctorates.

The Department has  procured high-end instruments like UV Visible Spectrophotometer and rotary evaporator for the  research with the support of the University and BRNS programs.

The Department has close cooperation with disciplines such as physics, biotechnology, biology, and materials technology at the university.

Some of postgraduate students have qualified CSIR, NET and GATE examinations and acquired jobs in different reputed Industries. During the last 8 years, the department has produced 10 Ph.Ds and published 25  research papers in Scopus indexed journals during 2013-2021
