| VIKRAMA SIMHAPURI UNIVERSITY SPORTS BOARD
The V S U Sports Board was started in the year 2011 to promote Physical Education and sports
culture among the students of Constituent and all the Affiliated Colleges in Nellore District,
Andhra Pradesh, through academics as well as organization and administration of sports. The V
S U Sports Board caters to the Sports needs of students by organizing Inter Collegiate
Tournaments, Sports Programmes/events to develop Physical Education & Sports Culture among
the student community as per the guidelines laid by UGC and Association of Indian Universities,
New Delhi. The V S U Sports Board is fielding Vikrama Simhapuri University sports Teams in
27 different events of Men & Women in All India and South Zone Inter University Tournaments. |
The V S U Sports Board is serving the society in two ways:
- Educating the students on the importance of Physical Fitness with support of Physical Education trainers.
- It is also rendering the services to the society by motivating the students to participate in sports and games and practice regularly with the support of well qualified coaches so that the students perform better at National and South India tournaments.
- The University College provides facilities for a wide range of sports and games. The university provides facilities for indoor games like shuttle badminton, table-tennis, chess, caroms and the outdoor facilities for cricket, football, ball badminton, basketball, volley ball, soft ball along with athletics tracks etc. The university is going to establish a modern gymnasium in couple of days, which is equipped with the latest gymnastic and fitness gadgets.
- The University hosts All India and South Zone Inter-University games competitions regularly. Intramurals are conducted annually. In addition, intercollegiate sports and games are conducted quite frequently in the campus. Coaching camps in different disciplines are held periodically in an atmosphere congenial to the development of skills in different sports and games. University provides financial assistance to the organizing colleges of the V.S.U Inter-Collegiate Tournaments.
- To encourage the Sports persons and Colleges some incentives are given by the University Sports Board such as providing Track Suit, Kits etc. Athletics Individual Championship Cash award each Rs. 5,000/- for Men & Women and Sports Merit Scholarship cash award for 40 Members, Rs. 3,000/- each (Men students 25 + 15 Women Students) and Institutional Championships for Men & Women Games for Inter- Collegiate Men & Women Tournament and Athletic meet Men &Women with cash award each Rs. 25,000/- for encourage more participation and development of sports. Cash Awards being paid to Athletics Individual Championships, Institutional Championship Sports Merit Scholarships and IUT Medals Winners.
