ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Masters course in Social Work(MSW) is one of the departments running successfully since inception of the university. MSW is job guaranteed course and it provides training to students in various fields such as family,child, youth welfare, rural and urban development, medical and psychiatric social work, Industrial relations and personal management, Gerontological social work, Disaster management and also in correctional services. Department of Social Work, Vikrama Simhapuri University has a mission and vision of providing contemporary education in social work and research.A programme gives equal weightage to theroy and practice. The students will have the opportunities to avail theoritical learning field experiences, research and training and services. They will be equipped to practice the primary and secondary methods , values and principles of social work and to perform various roles in different settings. They will be able to apply social work knowledge and skills with individuals, groups and communities belonging to the marginalised and vulnerable communities . They will be capacitated to undertake research , engage in community extension activites, critical thinking, decision making and optimum use of resources.
