Department of Mathematics was started with strong philosophy to Provide quality education to the students.

The Department was first started in erstwhile PG centre at Kavail affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University in 2002 as self supported course.  From 1st April, 2011, Sri Venkateswara University PG Centre has been brought under the fold of Vikrama Simhapuri University PG Centre and the Department of Mathematics became Regular Department with effect from the academic year 2014-15. 

The objectives of the department are to impart good quality teaching to the students for continued well-being of the people through excellence in studies and exploration. To provide a student-centered and professions-oriented higher education and to promote positive relationships among students, faculty and staff that enhance the learning experience a fruitful and outstanding one for future application in a dynamic world.

INFRASTURCTURE

The Department has 2 class rooms and 1 faculty room with a total area of 1440 Sq.ft

TEACHING FACULTY PROFILE:

One Academic Consultant and three Guest Faculty members are involved in teaching the curriculum in the Department. The faculty members are well qualified, having rich teaching experience and are actively involved in research activities in different fields of Mathematics.

The teaching staff members of the department have published 34 peer reviewed research articles in various standard journals and have attended several National/International conferences and seminars. 

CURRICULAR ASPECTS:

Course Structure:

            4 Semesters with 24 papers and 120 credit points. Courses offered with NEP-2020 Pattern by the Department:

STUDENT PROFILE

The Department has the total intake of 44 students per year.

TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS:

  • Black board teaching along with teaching through LCD projectors. 
  • Regular seminars conducted to improve student’s knowledge and communication skills.
  • Regular Students Counseling and Monitoring
  • Students are encouraged and trained to appear for GATE, CSIR-UGC-NET, SET and Other Competitive Examinations
  • Performance of students monitored through periodical tests, group discussions etc.

 

PRATHIBA AWARDS:

Students from the department of Mathematics won the Prathiba awards; 04 awards in  2015-17, 02 awards in 2016-18,  01 award in 2017-19.

 

EXTENSION ACTIVITIES:

Faculty members and Students of the departement actively participate in

  • Community Development programmes 
  • Skill Development Programme
  • Blood Donation camps
  • Sports and Games and cultural activities. 


Head of the Department:

At present Prof. Chilumuri Srinivasa Rao, Dept. of Commerce, VSU College, Kavali is the Head (I/c) of the Department of Mathematics.
