The Department of Computer Science was started 3 years MCA Course in the year 1997 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students and M.Sc(Computerscience) was started in year 2002 with intake of 40 students under S.V University  administration .later the department came under VSUniversity administration in 2010. The Students are being admitted into MCA course through ICET counseling  and for M.Sc (Computer Science) through APPGCET. The objective of introducing these course is to transform the non-technical graduates into technical graduates to cater to the needs of the IT sector.

The Department has been established to impart instruction with latest curriculum for the students of MCA  and M.Sc(ComputerScience)programme . This programme includes curriculum updated from time to time with strong technical concepts coupled with hands-on experience of real time industrial applications to keep the students on par with the ever-evolving software world.

The Department has well established Computer Lab equipped with P-IV high configured Computer Systems and Servers (Windows) with Internet Facility to meet the needs of regular curriculum. The Faculty, Research Scholars and Students are continuously using the Internet and Laboratory for their Academics, Research and Major & Minor Application Projects.

The Department has well qualified and experienced faculty in the areas of Speech Processing, Image Processing, Computer Networks, Cloud Computing, Data mining etc.

The Department is continuously drawing inspiration from its alumni to understand the technical trends and real world developments towards excellence.
