As a part of Special Lecture Series, Dept. of English, Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore has organized on “Human Rights in Dalit/Black and Disability Literatures” on 11th March, 2022.  Dr. R. Prabhakar, Head, Associate Professor, Dept. of English, Vikrama Simhapuri University College, Nellore was the Distinguished Speaker of the day. 

 In the Lecture, the Distinguished Speaker made a humble attempt to use the “safe framework” of human rights in order to uphold how Indian Dalit/Black and Disabled literatures offer a window to look at the “abuses of power” by the privileged people. He also tried to uphold how Indian Dalit/Black and Disabled literatures in general inscribes the life of the Dalits/ Blacks and Disabled as “the despised and dispossessed” in the face of discriminative society. He further concentrated to theorize upon the general tendency of Indian Dalit/Black and Disabled literatures through the lens of Human rights. Indeed, in authentically representing the Indian Dalit/Black and Disabled people as “the despised and dispossessed”. Indian Dalit/Black and Disabled literatures are telling the truth to power and at the same time so doing the Dalit/Black and Disabled writers are not only building a wall of resistance to the conventional codes of living and writing which privileged people and canonized writers respectively imposed on the Dalits/ Blacks and Disabled in the society but demanding to have those Six Fundamental Human Rights which the Constitution of civilized nations preach to be realized.

In the inaugural session, Prof. G. M. Sundaravalli Garu, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Vikrama Simhapuri University and Dr. L.V. Krishana Reddy, Registrar, Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore addressed the gathering. The Faculty and Students of the University actively participated in the programme.
